Toboggan Slide takes the Stakes!

Another Stakes winner for

Rock Slide!

Rock Slide's two year old son, Toboggan Slide, won the First State Dash Stake at Delaware Park in a dead heat last Saturday. The dark bay or brown colt was bred in Maryland by Jim Steele out of the Norquestor mare, My Aunt Dianne. This is the second generation of this family bred by the Steele's. The colt broke sharply and dueled with Golden Ghost by Ghostzapper throughout the five furlongs and fought back after being headed in the stretch. This is the second win in as many starts for the colt, whose next start is the Maryland Million on Saturday, September 26th at Laurel Park. The Maryland Million will showcase the best of Maryland sired horses and Maryland Stallion Station should be well represented by the offspring of their sires.

Looking beyond the Maryland Million, the Maryland Stallion Station will also be well represented at the Fasig Tipton Eastern Fall Yearling Sale October 5 & 6th. The sale will be a great opportunity to purchase an offspring of one of these exciting sires, including a full sister to stakes winner Toboggan Slide.

Rock Slide is the Maryland Leading Third Crop Sire and Multiple Stakes winners. He is the full brother to the legendary Mineshaft. His Stakes winners have continued into 2009! He earned 100+ Beyer Speed Figures five times, including a win in the 11/16-mile Tenacious H. on dirt, defeating Fifty STa rs (G2), Freefourinternet (G2), Discreet Hero (G3), Connected (G3), etc

Maryland Stallion Station Trifecta in Rachel’s Turn Stake

6/23/08 - On a pretty summer night in Charles Town, West Virginia MSS sires Outflanker, Seeking Daylight and Rock Slide accounted for the trifecta in the $50,000 Rachel’s Turn Stakes. Letmeaskuaquestion by Outflanker out of Misty Diablo bred in Maryland by David DiPietro and Louis Carrico won the race by 1 ¾ lengths with Broad But Nice and You Rock a nose apart and 9 ¼ lengths clear of the rest of the field. This is just more proof that breeding to Maryland Stallion Station sires is an asset in any state bred/accredited program. This stake was restricted to accredited West Virginia Breds.

These fillies are eligible to take advantage of up to three programs each. Letmeaskuaquestion is Maryland bred, Maryland Million nominated and West Virginia accredited. You Rock is all of the above except Maryland bred. Broad But Nice is Pennsylvania bred and West Virginia accredited. By nominating your foals to as many of these programs as they are eligible helps to increase your possible rate of return. The Maryland Million initial nomination fee of $250 nominates your foal for their entire career and is due by December 31st of their year of birth. All MSS stallions are Maryland Million nominated and you can get the required nominating forms at www.marylandthoroughbred.com or by calling our office 410-833-1299.
